Data Security Policy
Comprehensive overview of our data protection measures, privacy practices, and security protocols for legal professionals
At Empath Legal, we understand that legal professionals handle sensitive and confidential information. Our data security practices are designed to protect your clients and your practice with the highest standards of care.
Data Ownership
You own your data. Period. We never claim any ownership rights to the data you upload or generate through our platform. Your case files, juror information, and analysis results belong entirely to you and your clients.
No AI Training
We do not use your data to train AI models. The analysis itself runs on AI models from outside providers, reached through their standard commercial interfaces, so what those providers do with what we send them is governed by their own terms rather than by ours.
Data Deletion
When you delete something, we remove it from the systems that run the product. We also keep durable backup copies so that a failure on our side cannot lose your work, and we are still building out the process that clears deleted material from those. We would rather tell you that plainly than promise an erasure we cannot yet carry out end to end.
No Data Selling
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not monetize your information in any way. Delivering the service does mean passing information to companies we contract with — research and public-records providers, cloud hosting, the providers who run the AI models behind our analysis, and our payment and email providers. They receive it to do that work for us and for nothing else.
No Content Monitoring
Nobody here reads your case files as a matter of course, and we do not mine their contents. Our systems process them to produce the analysis you asked for. We filter our diagnostic logs to keep case material out of them, and we are still widening that filter as we find gaps in it.
Security Measures
All data transmission uses TLS encryption. Data at rest is stored in secure, encrypted storage, and we keep our systems patched as security updates are released.
