Our mission
Make jury selection winnable.
Built by a trial attorney, for trial attorneys who plan to win.
The philosophy
Trial attorneys bring instinct, narrative, and the read of a courtroom. Empath brings systematic research, pattern recognition, and what a Google search will never surface. Together, you walk into voir dire knowing what you couldn't know on your own.
What we believe
Your judgment stays yours.
The AI does the tedious research and surfaces what you'd miss. It never makes the call, never nudges the decision. The strike is yours — as it should be.
You shouldn't need to learn AI to use it.
No prompts to master, no settings to tune. The tool fits how trial lawyers already work — not the other way around.
A sharper sword, not a substitute swordsman.
In the courtroom, you bring the skill, the charm, the read of the room. Our job is to make sure you walk in knowing more.
Vision
Along with discovery and depositions, jury intelligence becomes the third cornerstone of any serious trial firm.
Who's behind it
Grant Schexnailder
President · Founder
A civil litigator who knows the feeling of drowning in logistics mid-trial. A Louisiana Bar Top 40 Under 40 recipient focused on municipal defense and constitutional claims, Grant founded Empath because he needed it himself. He is the bridge between courtroom and code — making sure the tool works exactly how a litigator needs it to.
Shane (Xingeng) Zhang
CEO · Founder
Shane turns legal vision into technical reality. He built high-stakes systems for Citigroup and healthcare research before specializing in making generative AI scalable, reliable, and secure. One conviction shapes everything he engineers: AI should be the car, never the driver — powerful underneath, simple for any lawyer on top, and the destination always yours.
